I find these words extremely important. But, more to the point.
So keep in touch!
Jeszcze jedno istotne pytanie. Dlaczego to robię? Bo lubię języki i nie chcę stać w miejscu. Jeśli chodzi o dwa pozostałe języki, którymi władam trochę lepiej, tzn. polski i angielski, cały czas ćwiczę. You need to understand one thing. Poor me!
Skończyłam. Done. Teraz najtrudniejsza część. Trzymajcie kciuki. Ktoś. Plisss.
A Wam, tym którzy czasem tu zaglądają, życzę Bogatego w Nowe Doświadczenia i Sukcesy Nowego Roku. Felicidades!

Podcasts
as listening is one of the four skills that are crucial in the learning process, you'd better practise it regularly. How? Listen to podcasts. You can usually choose from a number of interesting topics. For a start, check this one out. I'm sure you'll find something for yourself. If not, I recommend 79. Let's bake, 61. Project 2, Topic 3 - Social Networking Websites
Hello, this topic is about Facebook and other social networking websites that are popular today.
What are they to you? Are you a member? How often do you use them? What for?
Do social networking websites like 'fb'...
a) give lots of opportunities (give examples)?
b) just waste your time?
c) cause a lot of problems (what kind of problems)?
And finally, what is the future of social networking websites? What do you reckon, are they going to survive other innovations?
P.S. Did you know that the average (przeciętny) facebook user has 130 friends? (http://mashable.com/2010/07/22/facebook-facts/)
And did you know that there is a name for being addicted (uzależniony) to it? It's called FAD for Facebook Addiction Disorder (zaburzenie!). For this and other interesting facts see
http://blog.socialmaximizer.com/10-bizarre-facts-you-ought-to-know-about-facebook/
Looking forward to your replies...

Project 2, Topic 2 - Fashion
Hey, let's talk about fashion.
First, some words to revise: fashionable is modny, but you can also use words or expressions like in fashion, hot, up-to-date, stylish, trendy or latest thing.
On the other hand, there's the opposite of fashionable -> unfashionable, or in other words, out of fashion, out-of-date, old-fashioned, plain, or passe.
Now, think of the world around you (clothes, music, lifestyle, hairstyle, language, etc.) and answer my question:
What is in fashion and what is out of fashion nowadays?
Who tells people what is hot and what is not?
Do you follow the latest fashion? Do you think you should?

You as a Constable
Hey, see what I came across - Interactive Games! You can check if you'd be a good police officer. Just watch a scenario and choose the right way of reaction. It's FUN, I promise. Check it out on http://www.metpolicecareers.co.uk/specials/interactive-games-scenarios-angryman.html
Project 2, Topic 1 - Volunteering
Hi there,
(PART 1)
as you're teenage students, you probably take part in various (=różne) activities. Have you ever taken part (=brać udział) in volunteering (working for free, =wolontariat)?
If so, what did you do? How long did you do it? Did you learn anything while doing the work?
Another question is, what can you do as a volunteer?
And finally, why do young people take it up (=podjąć się)?
(PART 2)
please do some research (=praca badawcza) on the topic "Volunteering as a Police Officer." Click on the following link http://www.metpolicecareers.co.uk/specials/ and find out about being a special constable (=posterunkowy) in the UK:
1) "Special constables work alongside regular police officers and enjoy all the variety of policing London." What activities do they do and which of them would you enjoy doing most?
2) You realize (=zdawać sobie sprawę) you won't be paid. What do you get instead? How do you benefit (=skorzystać)?
3) What does utility belt include (zawiera)?
4) What is an epaulette? Where do you wear it?
Last question concerns the following video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jls8Bb2PVTw&feature=relmfu. Watch it and decide:
5) Would you like to be a special constable?
If you're interested, see one more video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iJjkPrjJ0E&feature=player_embedded and find out how British constables conduct stop and search.
Looking forward to your comments,
Best.

idiom 1: to save (something) for a rainy day - zachować coś na czarną godzinę
np. You shouldn't spend all you've got; you'd better save some money for a rainy day.
my question: Are you that kind of person who saves money for a rainy day?
Do you think it is a good idea to save something for a rainy day? Why?
some extra vocabulary:
THRIFTY (oszczędny) is when you're careful about how you spend your money
and
SPENDTHRIFT (rozrzutny) is the opposite, you're careless about money and you usually spend more than you need to
TO SAVE (oszczędzać) is the opposite of TO WASTE (marnować)
my question again: What do you waste your money on?

Summer Holiday Reading
Hi there,
for those that are lazying about during holiday and also those that aren't, I'd like to recommend to read a short book, or rather, a diary in English. Even the laziest antibook readers will enjoy it since it consists of numerous drawings, funny phrases and notes. It's definitely addressed to young people. Really, try it. It's short; you'll make it before the holiday finishes.
And here's the link http://www.funbrain.com/books/ameliawritesagain/book.html
Or my favourite "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." Here you go http://www.funbrain.com/journal/Journal.html?ThisJournalDay=1&ThisPage=1

17 March * St. Patrick's Day
How much do you know about St. Patrick's Day?
One traditional symbol of Saint Patrick's Day is the Shamrock.
"Shamrock" is the common name for several different kinds of three-leafed clovers native to Ireland.
The shamrock was chosen Ireland's national emblem because of the legend that St. Patrick had used it to illustrate the doctrine of the Trinity. The Trinity is the idea that God is really three-in-one: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.
Patrick demonstrated the meaning of the Three-in-One by picking a shamrock from the grass growing at his feet and showing it to his listeners. He told them that just as the shamrock is one leaf with three parts, God is one entity with three Persons.
The Irish have considered shamrocks as good-luck symbols since earliest times, and today people of many other nationalities also believe they bring good luck.
The color of St. Patrick was not actually green, but blue! In the 19th century, however, green became used as a symbol for Ireland. In Ireland, there is plentiful rain and mist, so the 'Emerald Isle' really is green all year-round. The beautiful green landscape was probably the inspiration for the national color.
Wearing the color green is considered an act of paying tribute to Ireland. It is said that it also brings good luck, especially when worn on St. Patrick's Day.
Many long years ago, playful Irish children began the tradition of pinching people who forgot to wear green on St. Patrick's Day and the tradition is still practiced today.

What is Leprechaun? The name leprechaun is derived from the old Irish word luchorpan which means "little body."
A leprechaun is an Irish fairy taking the appearance of a miniature old man, about 2 feet tall. They are known to live in remote places.

If you live in a COTTAGE far from a city, you probably have to resist going to COLLEGE, and you don't get up until 11 and eat your PORRIDGE, and I bet you could perfectly MANAGE and there would be no considerable DAMAGE, if you had just a bit of KNOWLEDGE.
W.P.
cottage ['kotɪdʒ] - domek wiejski
college ['kolɪdʒ]- szkoła pomaturalna
porridge [`porɪdʒ] - owsianka
manage [`mænɪdʒ] - radzić sobie
damage ['dæmɪdʒ] - szkoda
knowledge ['nolɪdʒ] - wiedza
Zadanie.

Enjoy :)
